Last week, we dug deep into why legacy trumps loudness in practice marketing. We established that the practices patients trust (and recommend) are the ones that consistently show up as the voice of expertise—not just noise.
Here’s the truth you won’t hear from agencies: Authority isn’t an accident. It’s the result of a reliable, repeatable system. If you want your expertise to fuel lasting growth, don’t leave it to random chance or “if I get around to it.”
Today, that “how” is yours. Here’s the simple, sustainable 3-step framework I have seen generate results again and again. Let’s break it down.

Step 1: Listen – Turn Patient Interactions Into Authority-Building Content
Authority starts with answering real questions from real people.
Where do you get content ideas (every single week)?
- The Front Desk: What do people ask when they call to book? (Insurance, first visit questions, directions, “do you treat X?”)
- Consultation FAQs: What concerns or myths do you hear in every first appointment?
- Feedback & Reviews: What do happy (and unhappy) patients notice? What did they wish they knew?
- Your Team’s Repeats: What does your team find themselves explaining over and over?
How to “Listen” Efficiently:
- Put a sticky note on your computer or clipboard labeled “Questions Patients Ask.”
- At the end of each day, jot down 1–2 that came up (or ask your front desk staff to do this!).
- Review the list every Friday and pick 1 hot topic for your next piece of content.
Step 2: Create – The “PRO” Content Formula for Busy Practice Owners
Don’t try to sound like a pro marketer. Be a pro problem-solver.
Struggling to decide how to turn your ideas into content? Here’s my no-stress formula for any format:
The “PRO” Formula:
- Problem: Name the real question or worry (“Is Botox safe for men?”)
- Your Unique Insight: Explain the truth, myth-bust, or give your personal take. What would you say if they asked you face-to-face?
- Actionable Tip: What should the reader/viewer do next (schedule, ask, check your FAQ, call, etc.)?
Example Outputs:
A) Simple Blog Post
- Problem: “Will my insurance cover knee pain treatment here?”
- Your Insight: “We see this every day—insurance can be confusing. Here’s what to check first, and why certain treatments are often covered by your plan.”
- Action Tip: “Call our front desk with your plan details; we verify coverage for you before your visit.”
B) Short Video (1–2 min)
- Problem: “Do med spas treat men?”
- Your Insight: “More men are getting facials and skin treatments than ever—over 30% of our new patients last month were men.”
- Action Tip: “Book a no-pressure consultation and let’s personalize your care.”
C) Podcast Segment
- Problem: “Why does my back still hurt after PT?”
- Your Insight: “Many patients need a combination of hands-on care and guided exercise—here’s why our approach is different.”
- Action Tip: “Listen to Episode 7 for a simple three-step home routine to try tonight.”
Pro Tip: Batch & Repeat
- Block 1–2 hours every other week: write 2 blogs, record 2 short clips, or outline 2–3 FAQ answers. Your only job is to keep the creation going—not to make every piece perfect.
Step 3: Amplify – Your 4-Point Authority Distribution Checklist
Content that isn’t seen is content that can’t build your reputation.
Here’s a dead-simple checklist for the non-marketer:
1. Post on Your Website
- Add to blog/archive page. Tag by “Patient Questions” or “Expert Insights.”
2. Email It
- Send to your email list (even a small one). Subject line: “New! [Question] Answered by Dr. Smith”
3. Share on Two Social Channels
- Facebook + Instagram, or LinkedIn (for B2B) + Google Business Profile.
- Don’t stress over reach—consistency trumps virality every time.
4. Google Business Profile Post
- Weekly updates with your patient questions/answers boost your local visibility. Keep it short and relevant.
Make it easy:
Save this list. Every time you hit “publish,” just run down these four steps. That’s it.
“Systems, Not Silos, Build Authority”
If you take nothing else from this, remember:
- Authority is your system—not your effort, not your mood.
- Listen to your market.
- Answer their real questions—on repeat.
- Share your knowledge like it’s the best referral you could ever give.
- Keep going. Authority compounds, and every piece you publish is a brick in your legacy.
